About Dr. János Blum
Dr János Blum is an internationally recognised risk manager with over 30 years of experience in banking and insurance. He was born in Budapest in 1957 and studied mathematics at ETH Zurich and economics at the University of St. Gallen. After completing his studies, he began his career at Swiss Re, where he worked as an actuary in non-life reinsurance.


As Chief Actuary at Zurich Re and Allianz Risk Transfer, he was responsible for pricing, reserves and capital allocation. As a consultant at Milliman and partner at Prime Re Solutions, he assisted numerous insurance companies in formation and run-off. From 2002 to 2022, he was a member of the Bank Council of Zürcher Kantonalbank, from 2004 to 2011 as Chairman of the Risk Committee, from 2011 as a member of the Chairman's Committee and from 2015 as Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the ZKB Pension Fund.


Dr János Blum is a sought-after advisor and mentor in risk management. He is also heavily involved in culture and politics and holds various honorary mandates in these areas. He enjoys spending his free time at the opera, theatre and cinema.
